"Don't haul on the rope, don't climb up the mast,
If you see a sailing-ship, it might be your last;
Get your civvies ready for another run ashore,
A sailor ain't a sailor, ain't a sailor anymore."
- The Last Shanty
It is with hearts oscillating between great sadness and equally great joy that we announce Ana María has a new owner. For us, she was not merely an impressive vessel, but our invaluable third teammate and the home we built with our own 4 hands. (For the record, though, no part of our hearts or hands misses the never-ending boatwork!) The new owner, a young Argentine living in Auckland, has promised to care for her and continue to put ocean miles under her keel.
"So, what's next for you?" seems to be the question on everyone's minds.
Well, we've temporarily landed with Andrés' parents in St. Augustine, Florida where we'll stay while we shed our sea legs and adjust to landlubber life. Andrés has returned to full-time software programming for Rhino3D (where he worked prior to our adventure) and I'll spend the next couple of months transforming the Co-Captain's Log emails into a book. Andrés and I are collaborating to deliver readers for years to come an innovative, immersive reading experience we hope will emulate the way you've been able to follow our adventure in real-time. Stay tuned for more details on the book, coming Fall 2024!
Until then, fair winds & following seas,
Katherine
Thanks again and we are looking forward (or for’d) to more from you both. We have enjoyed the ride!
